25th World Othello Championship
in Times Square, New York

Renaissance New York HotelThe official site for the 25th Annual World Othello Championship will be the Renaissance New York Hotel, located in the heart of Times Square, New York on November 7 - 10, 2001.

The Tournament will be hosted by Mattel, Tsukuda Original and Anjar Co. The Tournament Director will be David Parsons, president of the United States Othello Association.

The location at Two Times Square (Seventh Avenue and 48th Street), will provide the maximum exposure for this important event. Our co-hosts, Mattel, are planning to use the occasion of the 25th World Championship to promote Othello during the Holiday season. Promotional plans include a sample Othello giveaway and game demonstrations by Othello players.

In addition to the cash prizes, Trophies will be awarded to the First through Fourth Place Winners and Team Trophies will go to each member of the winning country. The Champion will have his or her name permanently inscribed in the rotating Othello Trophy, alongside the previous 24 World Othello Champs.

The Welcome Reception will be held at the Renaissance on Wednesday, November 7 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. In keeping with tradition, first round pairings will be drawn at the Reception.

Lunch will be served at the Renaissance Hotel, overlooking Times Square, for all players and guests on Thu., Nov. 8 and Fri., Nov. 9 and on Sat., Nov. 10 for finalists and working staff.
